Gaza aid flotilla reports second drone attack in Tunisian port

/n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>Another boat from the flotilla, the Portuguese-flagged \u201cFamily\u201d, had suffered a similar assault the night before.\u00a0Tunisian authorities on Tuesday denied that this first attack had been caused by drones and said they were investigating the cause.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThese repeat attacks come during intensified Israeli aggression on Palestinians in Gaza, and are an orchestrated attempt to distract and derail our mission,\"<\/strong> the activists said in a press release. <strong>\u201cThe Global Sumud Flotilla continues undeterred.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There was no immediate reaction from Israeli authorities.<\/p>\n<p>United Nations experts - including the <a href=https://www.africanews.com/"https:////www.africanews.com//2025//07//16//un-special-rapporteur-calls-for-concrete-action-on-genocidal-gaza-occupation///" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\"><strong>UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese<\/strong><\/a> for the occupied Palestinian territories - expressed support for the flotilla and demanded full protection of its passengers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAny attempt to block the flotilla would constitute a grave violation of international law and humanitarian principles,\u201d<\/strong> the experts said in a statement on Tuesday<\/p>\n<p>The Global Sumud Flotilla is made of around 20 boats carrying humanitarian aid that departed from Spain\u00a0on Sept. 1st. It had planned a stop in Tunisia before sailing on to Gaza.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Participants onboard come from at least 44 countries, and include Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and former Barcelona mayor Ada Colau.<\/p>\n<p>The Global Sumud Flotilla is <a href=https://www.africanews.com/"https:////www.africanews.com//2025//06//11//convoy-of-at-least-1500-activists-heads-to-gaza-to-challenge-israels-blockade///" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\"><strong>the latest effort by international activists to break Israel's 18-year-long blockade of Gaza.<\/strong><\/a> Founded in 2010, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition launched a series of boats carrying humanitarian aid this year, <a href=https://www.africanews.com/"https:////www.africanews.com//2025//06//11//israel-deports-greta-thunberg-other-activists-from-gaza-aid-flotilla///" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\"><strong>including the Madleen aid vessel in
